The Elk Lake Aquatic Center is a small indoor pool that invites both the school district attendees, as well as the greater community, to participate in a variety of recreation opportunities. The facility is connected to the school district, located in rural northeastern Pennsylvania, and does not function as its own agency, yet has a dual identity as both a school and public center. The pool is used by physical education classes throughout the school year, along with the swimming and diving teams. When the school is not utilizing the facility, the public is invited in for open swim sessions, swim lessons, water aerobics classes, and rentals.
The locker rooms are shared by the swim team, and double as the restrooms for the pool. On occasion, this slight overlap between school and public use can make navigating through the locker room difficult for those who are living with a disability, or who may find this amount of stimulation to be abrasive. The life-guarding staff will always attempt to accommodate these concerns to the best of their ability, and there is an alternative space that can be accessed to change into swim attire if necessary. An individual can approach the pool office before they attempt the locker room if they have concerns and staff will provide them with further details.

The Elk Lake Aquatic Center Is An Indoor Pool That Servers Both The School District That Is Nestled In, As Well As The Greater Community. All Individuals Are Welcome, Regardless Of Proximity To, Or Connection With, The School.

Along with providing recreation opportunities for the school district, the facility offers a variety of activities for the community to engage in as well. There are open swim times offered each week, year round, and guests are given the ability to rent the pool out on weekends for parties, reunions, or other events. As for learning and instruction, the facility offers Red Cross based swimming lessons for all ages, and private lessons by request, as well as water aerobics classes. During the summer, public availability increases and more programs are offered.
