There are no specific full time staff for the aquatics center, only a rotating, student based, lifeguard staff. These individuals receive training for guarding, first aid, CPR, and AED use only. There are monthly meetings however that address the inclusion of all patrons and how to safely accommodate each participant.

The guard staff are all students, or former students, of the Elk Lake School District and have had the opportunity to engage with peers of varying ability, with exposure to components associated with several different diagnoses. Although the school environment does not provide for formal training on inclusion, the staff are very receptive to the needs of others as a result.

Individuals who are living with disabilities, along with their family members and core support network, are given the opportunity to talk to the guards, instructors, and pool manager regarding concerns that they have about the inclusion of the facility. Any concerns are often handled at the pool facility rather than in from of the school board.
