The Sands Point Preserve Conservancy is an 8 minute car ride north from the Port Washington stop of the Long Island Rail Road. NOTE: Individuals with qualifying disabilities who have the required identification can travel on the Long Island Rail Road and Metro-North Railroad for half fare during certain hours. AbleRide will pick up the person with a physical disability outside the home and take the individual to visit the doctor, go shopping, commute to work, or even attend social events. The participant may travel with an aide or a companion. The fare is $3.75 each way for the individual with the disability as well as for companions. Aides travel free of charge. In some cases, Medicaid coverage may be applied. Contact Nassau Inter-County Express (NICE) Bus at 516-228-4028 for an application. While there are no curb cut-outs from the parking lot to the adjoining roadway that needs to be crossed on path towards main entrance of Castle Gould, parking is available on the grass to the left of the main parking lot (Castle Gould). These regular spaces are marked with white pained lines. That would eliminate one curb on approach to entrance. The second curb to negotiate, measuring approximately 3.5 inches, is from the roadway towards the main entrance. It should be noted that if not attending an event/activity inside Castle Gould, there is additional parking by Hempstead House (well marked), that does not have a curb to go onto the roadway.

Main entrance door width at Castle Gould is 31" however that can be expanded to 60" when the adjoining second door is opened; entrance doors are not in a series, both doors open out like French doors to accommodate widths up to 60". The slope of the pathway to go into main entrance is 5 degrees.

There are two doors enter/exit restroom: door closest to restroom had width of 33" and had a push plate entrance. There is a pull handle with opening force of door to exit restroom measuring 13.8 pounds.
