Describe the surface of the route of travel:
From main parking lot of Castle Gould, follow unmarked trail to the left of Castle Gould as facing it. (steep slope). Go over wide bridge. Turn left just after the pond (on your left) for marked Trail 5 which is a concrete solid paved roadway. Expansive view of Long Island Sound at end of Trail 5 roadway (dead end), without having to go down to the shore.

Comments

The route to the beach was taken only to the observation/viewing fenced off area. The surface of the hill down to the beach was a 2"uneven gravel with a slope of 31 degrees at steepest point. At the base of the hill were boulders to step on/over to get to the shoreline. To get to the beach observation point take Trail 5, the concrete solid roadway. A wonderful location to see.
