Agency Mission and Values
Comments/additional information about agency mission:
NYC Department of Parks and Recreation's primary mission statement is somewhat inclusive, but their statement on their accessibility in parks has far more inclusive language. It states, "NYC Parks strives to help all New Yorkers discover how New York City's about 29,000 acres of parks can enrich their lives, promoting physical and emotional well-being, and providing venues for fitness and peaceful respite for the widest possible audience."

The Friends of St. Nicholas Park is a coalition of residents, with and without disabilities, and community-based organizations, working together to revitalize St. Nicholas Park. They advocate for the increase in programming, beautification projects, and the overall positive use of the 23-acre park. NYC Parks and Recreation takes their voices into account when planning.
