Staff is trained in various different areas, including the use of accessible facilities, adaptive sports, and programs. Disability etiquette training is completed by recreation, pool, and beach staff. Landscape architects and engineers are educated about inclusive design.

NYC Parks has scope meetings and gathers input for inclusive design and programming from people with disabilities, doctors, therapists, and other community members. From here, the community board takes the input for implementation. The ADA Coordinator also connects with rehabilitation groups and centers to gather expert advice. which is provided to architects and designers.

NYC Parks has a quarterly ADA Advisory meeting open to the public and disability leaders to suggest programming options. The department also utilizes input from 311, a toll-free number to give suggestions or complaints about an NYC agency, and provides responses within 2 weeks.
