Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation welcomes individuals of all abilities to participate in all programs and activities. The department is dedicated to providing quality services to a diverse community by assuring accessibility. Bayside Recreation Center is a highly accessible building that hosts a variety of inclusive programs. Physically, there is an accessible route of travel from the parking lot that leads to two sets of automatic doors for entry. Inside, the center is single floored and the ground level is appropriate throughout. In regard to social inclusion, employees place an emphasis on customer service for all people. Both building supervision and front line staff have shown continued support for inclusion through practice and learning. Inclusion Specialist conduct disability specific trainings for staff inside and outside the department.
