Summary

The Beacon Center of Arts and Leadership which ties to the Coalition for Hispanic Family Services (CHFS) is a not-for-profit community-based comprehensive family service agency located in New York City. They serve the North Brooklyn communities of Bushwick, Williamsburg and East New York and the Queens communities of Ridgewood, Elmhurst, and Corona. Over the years the agency’s services have expanded to include mental health, primary health care, after-school education, HIV/AIDS case management, youth and parent training, youth leadership development, fatherhood support, family support, homelessness prevention, and community service internships.

The mission is:
"Our goal is to empower children, youth and families with opportunities for success and self-reliance while reinforcing their sense of culture and self-identity. This is achieved through a holistic, culturally competent, family-based approach."

Description

The Beacon Center For Arts And Leadership, A Program Of The Coalition For Hispanic Family Services, Is An Educational, Recreational, And Social Service Community Center Housed Inside Of I.S. 291 In Bushwick, Brooklyn. The Beacon Center Provides Opportunities To Create, Think, Communicate, And Problem Solve Through Activities That Build Leadership Skills And Develop The Self. We Operate Monday Through Saturday And Are Open After School, Evenings, All Day During The Summer, And On Most School Holidays. Our Different Programs Target Elementary And Middle School Children, Teenagers, And Adults. We Are Committed To Serving The Entire Family With Programs Which Are High Quality, Innovative, Fun And Best Of All, Free.
