Notes about physical inclusion

Any additional information about physical accessibility you feel would be helpful to people with disabilities and their families
Request location of bathrooms as path to bathrooms are not labeled. On bathroom doors, verbiage includes wording and numbers only and universal signage would be useful Assistance may be needed in bathrooms 2-5 due to smaller dimensions. Additional and larger signage throughout building could be useful. Upon further discussion with Executive Director Jan Peneston, she stated that their main focus is to promote inclusivity by using non-gender specific identification throughout the camp. Other thoughts that could be beneficial would be signage at lower levels (children’s sightline or wheelchair height); braille, and wording in Spanish. Additionally, both wings off of the main activity room include bathrooms and incorporate sleeping quarters to include two offset bunkbeds with a 32” width between them and an open area of approx 44" by 66" free space at door per room.. There is a full kitchen with approximately 54” to 58” turn around for wheelchair maneuvering. Main activity room measurement is approximately 38' x 70' with two emergency exits, (same as entrance door information and located on opposite wall of entranceway) leading out to the back patio. As per emergency exiting out patio doors, stone/dirt trails offer limited accessibility for people with special needs. Though, the two wing extensions have emergency exits; the left wing has a steep stone/dirt egress over 8 degrees, and the right wing egress is flat consisting of stone/dirt that opens to parking lot and suggested assistance would be needed due to terrain.
