Carpenter Falls Unique Area in Niles, Cayuga County is a 37 acre public forest area that is managed by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. The accessible boardwalk brings visitors to a platform to view the 90 foot Carpenter Falls. A hiking trail that is not accessible, is parallel to the Bear Swamp Creek along the upper rim of the gorge which is accessed along a pathway of stone steps descending from the platform. There are many stone steps down to the trail, which is well marked but uneven. The boardwalk, stone step trail, viewing areas and modern parking area make this area a great place to visit.
