According to the agency website: "The Sanford Lake Day Use Area features a picnic area, with picnic tables, gravel concrete boat ramp, a canoe/kayak launch and a floating dock. Portable toilets are provided Memorial Day to Labor Day. No trash pickup is provided. This is a carry in-carry out facility.
The camping opportunities at Birdseye Hollow State Forest also include six primitive campsites located on Sanford Lake. Campsites are delineated and include tables and fire rings. Due to high demand for these campsites during the summer recreation season (Memorial Day through Labor Day), a permit is required from the Bath NYSDEC office during regular business hours. Per Assessment: Sanford Lake offers a paved path with built in resting areas that winds down to the water for fishing access. There is a paved area about half way down for picnicking. On top of the hill there are campsites. The designated accessible site has a raised fire ring and is relatively flat. A short ways away you will find the boat launches. There is a trailer boat launch and an accessible EZ Launch for kayaks and canoes.
