The Carmel Recreation and Parks Department is interested in updating their information and would like there to be more language around inclusion reflected in their agency.

Although there is no formal trainings scheduled or ADA coordinator all staff are reported to be accommodating and helpful to any participants who may have disabilities. They wilkl create alternative plans or get additional staff if needed.

A new all inclusive ADA playground will be be opening in the Spring that was spearheaded by parents of children with disabilities in the town.

There are links to a local recreational agency: Putnam Recreation Programs and Habilitation, that specializes in providing recreational opportunities to those with disabilities on the Town of Carmel Recreation Website and brochures for classes.

Are emergency warning and evacuation procedures in place for safe exit of people with disabilities? (e.g., auditory and visual alarm systems, areas of rescue assistance identified)

If a provider such as SEIT, speech thearpist, OT, or PT needed to meet with a participant during a program time they would be given the space with the person .

Not at this current time but with the creation of the inclusive playground, there might be a greater need to have more specific feedback/evaluation of programs/services.

Putnam Recreation Program and Habilitation uses Carmel Town Recreation Parks for recreational trips, camp and events.
Mahopac Schools use the Park facilities for sports and events.

Town of Carmel Recreation and Parks is interested in creating greater access and better serving people with disabilities in it's programs. They do not have any formal procedures, policies or training in place at this time in order to create a fully inclusive environment.
