According to the agency website: Situated on one of Central New York's earliest settled communities and majestically overlooking Cazenovia Lake, Lorenzo State Historic Site offers an opportunity to discover the imprint of five generations of the Lincklaen/Ledyard family.
Established in 1807 as the neoclassical home of John Lincklaen, Holland Land Company agent and founder of Cazenovia, Lorenzo was continually occupied by the family until the property was conveyed to New York State in 1968.
Visitors to Lorenzo enjoy guided tours of the Mansion; stroll the Ellen Shipman formal garden and Dark Aisle Arboretum; view the Visitor Center orientation exhibits and a 15-minute introductory video; attend any number of special events on the historic grounds including the "Annual Driving Competition," Symphoria orchestral concert, "Shakespeare on the Lawn," "Fashionable Ladies' Garden Tea" and the "Rippleton Schoolhouse Community Day." Visitors may also partake in any number of educational and interpretive presentation at the site, snowshoe with LL Bean in the winter, and hike the connective trail through the 87-acre site.
Lorenzo is the jewel of Cazenovia, a village renowned today for its quaint and picturesque landscapes, quiet inns, fine restaurants, cultural attractions and unique shops.
