According to the agency website: "In 1999 the State of New York purchased 18,896 acres of conservation easements from New River - Franklin, LLC of Alabama. The acquisition of these conservation easement lands will keep those lands as working forests while providing public recreation opportunities. This web page deals exclusively with the Long Pond Conservation Easement and includes information on the easement and the recreational pursuits the public can enjoy there.
There are five accessible drive-to campsites on the Long Pond Conservation Easement. Accessible features at the campsites include a privy, tent pad and fire ring. The surface of the campsite is a firm stable surface suitable for mobility devices. ATV's are allowed on roads or trails posted open to such use. Accessible parking, privy and kiosk with a map of the area are provided at the main parking lot."
