Summary

According to agency website: "like similar groups, it began with the vision of a few Rome citizens who believed in the value of saving items from the past for citizens of the future. Today, the society has a museum, the William E Scripture Memorial Library, archives, artifacts, and much more to offer researchers.

Our 100-seat auditorium offers a podium, slide projector and screen, and a sound system which is available with advance booking.

The Society houses an important collection of over 400,000 historical textiles and samplers, maps, paintings, prints, photographs, early tools, and other artifacts related to the area.

The permanent exhibits feature the Iroquois peoples, the Forts on the Carry, the first European settlers in the area, the canals, the dairy industry, manufacturing and early life in Rome."
