Agency Mission and Values

Yes
Comments/additional information about agency mission:
The mission statement speaks to "our stories", the residents of Montana which I believe is inherently inclusive without directly saying so. This agency offers education, experiential/hands on history and interpretive opportunities that allows for a variety of sensory exploration activities throughout Montana. This agency also has online collections and programming for those who might have transportation barriers. Of special interest to me was the Traveling Trunks program. The Society's Footlocker program offers thematic "traveling trunks" focused on a wide variety of topics. Each footlocker is filled with reproductions of clothing, tools, everyday objects, maps, photographs, documents. Each footlocker user guide includes historical narratives for educators and students, lesson plans (many of which do not require material from the footlockers), Amazing Montanan biographies, and information on standards alignment increasing accessibility to all students.

Comments/additional information about agency staff:
Eve was very honest that the historical society approves the historic designation, but is not responsible for the actual site. Anaconda-Deer Lodge County received a Main Street grant to obtain this designation and there is a local man who volunteers to plow the walking trail to keep it accessible all winter. He is attempting to have local government take over trail upkeep. At this time, there is no local agency oversight of this facility that I can locate.

Comments/additional information about agency communication and marketing:
I believe that the public information officer would go out of her way to respond to requests. She was an active problem solver while speaking to me over the phone.

Comments/additional information about agency policies and procedures:
I have marked N/A based on the Glenn Dam area being outside with no building attached. I would suggest that people research the Historical Society web page, if you are looking to learn more about the facilities located in Helena, MT.

Comments/additional information about agency evaluation of inclusion:
The public information officer would not respond to questions about the Historical Society located in Helena as I was researching the site in Anaconda which they are not responsible for.
