Summary
The North Boulder Recreation Center is a 50,000 square foot recreation facility featuring two basketball courts, two volleyball courts, a racquetball court, a 25-yard lap pool with slides, and a gymnastics center. The center is located on the northern side of Boulder off of HWY 7 with plentiful accessible parking on the site and a bus stop right in front. The atmosphere is overall friendly and welcoming to all children, teens, and adults. The center is due for reconstruction however, many of the EXPAND programs are up to date and allow for participation from all. The EXPAND program works to learn and practice social skills and communication, physical fitness, independence and self confidence, building community, safety within programs and in the community, emotional wellness and appropriate expression of emotions, cognition skills, leisure awareness/educations, and having fun. The first EXPAND program started in 1980 and has been growing ever since to accommodate people of all abilities. Various rules and regulations are put into place and stated to ensure the safety of the public and the center’s staff.
