Partnerships and Collaboration
Comments/additional information about agency partnerships and collaboration:
ECBC has been working with RAA before opening the Lockport site. They have adapted to the needs of their customers and have actively engaged in being inclusive of all customers. RAA and ECBC have partnered to provide the Canal Pal program. "CANALPALS -- Renters can take advantage of RAA's CanalPal program to request that a trained volunteer/staff person accompany you during your kayak or cycle rental time. CanalPal's offer a fun way to stay active when you don't want to ride or kayak by yourself, and provide support with minding the traffic flow, keeping track of time, and a perfect social connection when you need it! Simply request a CanalPal when you reserve your cycle or kayak (at no extra charge!)"
Notes About Administrative Practices
Any additional administrative practices you noted at the agency that are not listed above that you feel are helpful to people with disabilities and their families:
ECBC is very vested in being an inclusive business and has invested in a fleet of adaptive kayaks and cycles. They are able to move equipment around to their various locations with advances notice. It is good to call ahead and discuss your needs with Peter so that he is sure to have available the equipment you need at the Lockport location. Peter has worked with RIT and The Bicycle Man to develop some equipment to meet unique customer needs.
