Summary
This spacious high-ceiling rec center has state of the art equipment, an indoor lacrosse/soccer turf field with dasher boards, a cycling studio, outdoor tennis courts and batting cages. In the summer the zero depth entry outdoor 'whale' pool is a favorite with the kids.
Facility is easy to access with spacious design inside and out. No ramps or stairs are required to enter, there is an easily accessible elevator to move between the two floor of the building. There are only 3 area with slopes across the entire property and those slopes minimal, between 1-5%. About half of the entryways in the building do not have doors and most areas with doors have a double-dour setup with no metal bar in the middle. All exercise equipment in the building is wheelchair accessible as well as access to all areas within the building. Some signage has Braille while some does not. There are visual signs everywhere pointing to other areas of the building. Staff has annual training regarding inclusion and facility has recently continued improving their accessibility by purchasing accessible workout machines as well as continually visiting other recreation locations for ideas.
