Mindful Connections
Visitors with Alzheimer’s, Dementia and their Caregivers Mindful Connections Mindful Connections is a free tour program for people with dementia and their caregivers. Every month trained guides facilitate a gallery experience designed to promote engagement with works of art and each other. Mindful Connections meets on the third Friday of every month at 2:00 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to arrive at 1:30 p.m. for complimentary tea in Café Serai.
American Sign Language Tours
The Rubin Museum offers American Sign Language tours of the Museum’s collection specifically designed for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. American Sign Language gallery tours are available by request with one-month advance notice. We cannot accommodate sign language students at this time. Please contact 212.620.5000 x345 or email reservations@rubinmuseum.org to reserve your booking. Assistive Listening Devices Assistive listening devices are available for museum programs and special events. Place requests in advance by calling 212.620.5000 x344 or by email at boxoffice@rubinmuseum.org. Audio Guide Transcripts Audio guide transcriptions are available at the front admissions desk by request.
Verbal Description Tours
Verbal Description and Sensory Tours The Rubin Museum offers verbal description and sensory tours for visitors who are blind or partially sighted. These free tours are one hour in length and are included with Museum admission. Museum guides are specially trained to lead these tours, which allow participants to form visualizations of the art through close, careful descriptions as well as touch objects like sculptures, art materials, woodblocks, and ritual implements. Reservations are required, as space is limited, so please contact the reservations office by phone: 212.620.5000 x319, or by email, access@rubinmuseum.org in advance of your visit.Large Print Exhibition Labels High-contrast, large-print labels are available for every exhibition. They can be found in binders in each gallery to assist visitors in their viewing and understanding of the exhibition.
