The New York Public Library Inwood Branch located at 4790 Broadway, New York, NY (At Upper most part of Manhattan); accessible from mass transportation conveniently steps away from Restaurants, shopping area and multiple parks and Playgrounds: such as The Cloister Museum at Fort Tryon Park and The Nature Center at Inwood Hill park.
The NYPL Inwood Branch serves people with disabilities and has gone through some renovation a few years ago. They eliminated barriers such as the turnstile that occupied the entrance, now an open space you can just walk through without having to bother anyone for assistance. The elevator use to be hidden and needed to be accessed with assistance from staff, is now visible and can be assessed with the turn of a key which opens the elevator door.
They provide educational program for children and adults all year round (such as introduction to computers and internet navigation and reading time for children in a separate room located on the second floor. They are open Monday 10am-8pm, Tuesday 10am-6pm, Wednesday 10am-8pm, Thursday 10am-6pm , Friday 10am-5pm, Saturday 10am -5pm and Sunday is closed.
The NYPL Inwood Branch is a medium sized location with ample resources and a viable source for the community.
The staff is fairly trained; the Inwood branch has two bulletins with services and jobs inside and outside of the community. The first bulletin is located at your left when you enter the 2nd entrance door and the second bulletin is located at the Reference area. Many people young and old are welcome to come to the Inwood branch, the community has a big and rich population which consists of young and old and people of many different backgrounds.
