The department of Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation aims to provide services to the city’s diverse community by assuring accessibility for all citizens to quality programs, public spaces and parks. Bayside Recreation Center is a universally designed building that hosts a variety of inclusive programs. Physically, there is an accessible route of travel from the parking lot that leads to two sets of automatic doors for entry. Inside, the center is single floored. In regard to social inclusion, both building supervision and front line staff have shown continued support for inclusion through learning and practice. An Inclusion Specialist is on site and further assists with specific requests as they arise.
