Women's Building

The Women's Building is just one of many different recreation facilities available to both Syracuse University and SUNY ESF students, faculty, and staff. The building has multiple levels of different activities and is often used to host physical education and exercise science classes. The Syracuse University Women's Varsity Volleyball team practices and holds games in the gymnasium on the second floor. The basement is a temporary office space that is often changing depending on who is occupying it. In order to get to the basement, there is no other way to get there but the stairs. There is an elevator, but it will not take you that far down.

Women's Rights National Historic Park

The park consists of four historical properties and a state-of-the-art visitor's center. Start at the visitor's center where you can view our inspirational film and exhibits. Continue to the Wesleyan Chapel and imagine being a participant at the first women's rights convention. Take a tour of the Elizabeth Cady Stanton home where she raised seven children and did extensive networking to create a reform movement. In nearby Waterloo, the restored home of Thomas and Mary Ann M'Clintock is open to the public during the summer. Site of the planing for the first women's rights convention, the M'Clintock House contains exhibits about the family's Quaker faith and their work in anti-slavery and women's rights. The home of Richard and Jane Hunt is also in Waterloo. It is open to the public only on special occasions.

Wonder Lake State Park

According to the agency website: Converted from a 1920's summer home in the town of Patterson, Wonder Lake is a hiker's delight of 8.6 miles of marked trails. Walk on what were historically bridle trails around scenic Wonder Lake in this 1133 acre area. Get in touch with nature around the 3-acre Laurel Pond.

Woodland Valley Campground

According to the agency website: "Nestled at the foot of Slide Mountain, the tallest peak in the Catskills, and surrounded by Panther, Cornell, and Wittenberg Mountains is Woodland Valley Campground. The campground offers 70 tent and trailer sites, a picnic area with tables and grills, flush toilets, hot showers, a trailer dump station and a recycling center. Woodland Valley Campground serves as the trailhead for both Slide-Wittenberg Trail and Woodland Valley-Denning Trail. Area attractions include the Village of Phoenicia which offers tubing on the Esopus Creek (famous for its trout fishing), a railroad museum, train rides on the Catskill Mountain Railroad, fine shops, antiques and restaurants."

Woodlawn Beach State Park

According to the agency website: Woodlawn Beach State Park is located on the eastern-most terminus of Lake Erie. Within the Buffalo metropolitan area, the park offers a beautiful, one-mile long natural sand beach with lovely panoramic views and spectacular sunsets on the lake. Woodlawn Beach supports a diversity of wildlife habitats including one of the finest freshwater sand dune areas remaining on Lake Erie. Recreational opportunities are plentiful and include picnicking, beach volleyball, nature trails and a playground on the beach.

The Woods Facility offers both Hammer Strength and Cybex weight training equipment and an extensive selection of free weights. This facility also offers Cybex bikes and Arc Trainers, Precor climbers, elliptical fitness cross-trainers, and a Concept II rowing ergometer.

Woodstock Library

Woodstock Library is a great library with outstanding staff. It is a three story building with big staircases, and large, arched windows, but much of its beauty has gone to waste since the 1970s when its upper levels were closed. The main entrance to the library has stairs; there is no ramp or elevator available. Agency hopes to make rennovations in the near future.

World Gym East Meadow

World Gym was established in 1976 though their East Meadow location is one of its newer locations. The gym does not offer transportation however public transportation is available (public bus lines) and there is plenty of accessible parking for anyone who may need it. World Gym offers a wide variety of equipment for cardiovascular exercises as well as strength training. World gym offers a variety of different group classes such as yoga, body boot camp, and HIIT workout classes where trained staff are available to provide assistance and modify activities when needed. World Gym also offers personal training services. Staff are warm and welcoming and do an excellent job of providing additional assistance to anyone who may need it, in addition to the facility being fairly wheelchair friendly on its own. World Gym also provides two large changing areas with showers, bathrooms, and lockers.

Wrightsville Beach is a popular tourist attraction is Wilmington, NC and is accessible to all. Wrightsville Beach was named one the best surf towns in the world. Surfing, kayaking, paddle boarding, kitesurfing, pier fishing, and pristine beaches, Wrightsville Beach has so much to offer. The public beaches are well maintained and accessible to all. Beach wheelchairs are available through the Parks & Rec. Dept.

Yadkin Memorial Park is located at the beautiful, human-made Lake Hampton in Yadkinville, North Carolina. Lake Hampton offers 140 acres of water surrounded on three sides by peaceful old growth forest. Fish, paddle, or relax on the water by kayak, canoe, or boat, and enjoy the beautiful scenery! Amenities include paved walking trail, playground, boating (non-gas powered), fishing, waterfowl hunting, boat ramps, including the Accessible EZ Lauch System for kayaks and canoes, 2 fishing piers, 2 picnic shelters with grills and accessible picnic tables, accessible restrooms, and ample parking.

Yaman Park

Yaman Park, located on Kennedy Parkway, is open from 6:00am to 10:30pm daily. The park has a beach area, where visitors can swim, a picnic and playground area, an accessible boat launch at the Tioughnioga River, and a skateboard park. The skateboard park is open from noon to dusk on weekends and from 3:00pm to dusk on school days. Admission is free, and helmets are required at all times.

Yellow Lantern Kampground was built upon the former Graham Farm on the outskirts of Cortland, located in the Finger Lakes region of Upstate New York. Phase one of construction begain in January, 1972 with the facility open to customers shortly thereafter in June, 1972. Originally built with 50 campsites, an office, gift shop, laundry and restroom facilities, the camping resort has expanded to include over 225 campsites, recreation building, swimming facilities and visitor access to the natural beauty of the Tioughnioga River.

YMCA at Jones Gulch

The San Mateo Outdoor Education Center (SMOE) pairs with the YMCA At Camp Jones Gulch to provide an Outdoor Education program to schools in San Mateo County. During the program, the County Program uses these facilities to accommodate students and staff for the week and throughout the year. Outside of the SMOE program, the YMCA runs programs on the weekend and during the summer. After speaking with some of the YMCA maintenance staff, it is confirmed that there will be continuous progress to make the site more inclusive overtime by restoring walkways and important sections of pavement.

YMCA Camp Arrowhead

Camp Arrowhead is an outdoor adventure camp setting that has been created to welcome all participants from the community. At every aspect, accessibility is recognized and encouraged. Staff for the camp are trained in making all activities inclusive based on needs. The different activities offered provide equipment necessary to make it inclusive. It is a great place to visit with family, attend camp at or utilize for group training. There are trails available, a pool, splash pad, picnic area, climbing tower, shelters to rent and a bounce pillow. Camps are available during the summer and school breaks. Home school takes place here on Wednesdays. Preschool program occurs during the year. Private booking can occur for group training.

This camp is in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. If a participant uses a wheelchair it is recommended that they have all terrain wheels.The property itself is rather hilly and most of the roads are dirt and gravel. The staff is always more than willing to work with participants to make their experience more comfortable. In the series of paperwork that is sent to parents before camp begins and after initial registration, there is space to provide information on accommodations that any camper may need. This gives the staff time to make any adjustments in preparation for the campers arrival.
