Sweden Clarkson Recreation and Community Center offers a wide variety of programs and activities for a range of ages. They offer fitness classes such as Zumba or Jazzercise. They offer many sports programs for all ages, including basketball, soccer, softball, baseball, and pickleball. They also offer a before and after school program for kids in grades kindergarten through sixth grade.

Sweetbriar Nature Center is a private not-for-profit agency which exists to provide natural science education services for Long Island residents of all ages and to engage in native wildlife rehabilitation services. Through education and examples, Sweetbriar encourages responsible decision making, appreciation, and respect for the unique wildlife and ecosystems found on Long Island. Sweetbriar Nature Center is situated on 54 acres of varied garden, woodland, field and wetland habitats on the Nissequogue River.

Sweetbriar Nature Center includes 54 acres of trails, fields, and an education center. Most of the trails are flat with packed ground and wide trails. One of the trails includes a lead, with braille paragraphs and other tactile elements along the trail for people who do not have sight, as well as people who have sight to learn about life cycles. The outdoor animal enclosures are easily accessible by the flat ground covered in grass. The Nature Center itself is an old house, so therefore the agency cannot make any structural changes to it. However, there is a ramp and the first floor of the house is accessible. There is one upstairs room that cannot be easily accessed by wheelchair. The Barn area is accessible by a packed gravel path. For programs, accommodations can be made upon request.
Syracuse University (Flanagan Gym)

Flanagan Gym is a small building primarily for fitness classes, basketball/ volleyball, & racquetball/squash ball. The courts are located on the 2nd floor, racquetball on the ground floor. The main floor is where the registration table is to sign in and out of the building. All pathways are clear of obstructions and each floor is easily accessed by elevators. Not much in terms of adaptive equipment. Something I would recommend is for the university to do research on adaptive equipment as far as the sports that are offered in these buildings for open recreation and see if it can be included in their budget.
Syracuse University North Campus Monday Mile (Lerner Center for Public Health Promotion)

The Monday Mile route is on a sidewalk that goes through Syracuse University (north campus). The path is 8 to 10 feet wide in most places. The narrowest point along the route is 59 inches and occurs on the sidewalk on Crouse Drive. At the time of this assessment, five turns on the Monday Mile route that needed signs did not have any signage to direct people. Syracuse University Outdoor Education Center

The Outdoor Education Center is located on Skytop Road in Syracuse NY, and is part of Syracuse University. Many SU OEC programs utilize the Challenge Course for team building exercises and initiatives. It is open to the anyone that wants to use it. They have a variety of different things on the challenge course that include portable games, low elements, and a high ropes challenge course. This program is focused on team building and that is what they strive for. This agency wants to bring people together and work as a team. This is a well used and growing program that is getting a lot of attention and a lot of use.
Syracuse University Tennity Ice Pavilion

"The pavilion houses a pro shop, a skate rental shop and a skate sharpener. The ice is used by the hockey and figure skating clubs, women's division I ice hockey team, intramural hockey and broomball leagues, classes conducted by the Department of Recreation Services and the Department of Health and Exercise Science. Special group reservations and ice rentals are available to Syracuse University affiliates. Features two sheets of ice, a regulation sized sheet and a smaller studio sheet. One of the two sheets is always available for open skating whenever the building is open for business."

Associated with the SPW are the Dug Mountain, Forks Mountain and Chatiemac Primitive Areas. During the early part of the nineteenth century, logging became an important industry in the region, and most of the Wilderness was heavily cut over. Devastating fires at the turn of the century continued to significantly impact this natural resource.

Thornden Park

Thornden Park is a 76-acre park located next to the Syracuse University Campus. The Haskin family originally purchased it in 1854 as farmland. In 1873, Major Alexander Davis acquired the land and planted shrubs and a variety of vegetation that is still present today. The city purchased the land in 1921 and has added such features as the E. M. Mills Rose Garden, the pool, and the amphitheatre. The park is a popular place for runners and walkers as well as those who want to play any type of recreational sport in the many open areas. It is also well known for its excellent views and many special events that often feature the spectacular Rose Garden.
