The Cross Island YMCA is located at 238-10 Hillside avenue in Bellerose/Queens, NY. It is accessible via the Q43, N26, and N22 bus routes, which stop directly in front of and across the street from the facility. It is open from 5:00AM to 10:30PM on weekdays and 7:00AM-8:00PM on weekends. The facility offers an array of sports, activities and exercise programs. Accessible parking is available at both the main parking lot facing Hillside avenue and in the back parking lot which allows access to the tennis court, two running tracks, and rear entry wheelchair ramp. There is a Special Populations and services office should anyone need particular accommodations or have questions about using adaptive equipment. The facility has two indoor swimming pools, both of which have chairlifts and steps with handrails. Lifeguards and staff are always on hand to assist. There is a wheelchair accessible changing room and bathroom on the main level as well as access to either swimming pool. There are locker rooms on the lower level which are accessible via stairs. The Cross Island YMCA offers group activities such as Water Exercise Class for Adults with Disabilities, Chair Yoga, and occasionally, Wheelchair Tennis. All activities can be adapted to suit the needs of individual members. All members have access to personal trainers. The floors are grouted tile and the surface is flat. Crotched Mountain Accessible Recreation and Sports (or CMARS for short) is a program of Crotched Mountain Foundation that brings people living with disabilities together with family and friends in sporting activities. Every winter, people with disabilities throughout the region enjoy the thrill of skiing and snowboarding with the CMARS Program. Our certified recreation therapists and trained volunteers offer lessons to people with disabilities at all skill levels from first-time skiers to seasoned skiing veterans.

Croton Gorge Park is a 97-acre property at the base of the Croton Dam and affords impressive views of the dam and spillway. The park is a popular spot for fishing, picnicking and hiking, with direct trail access to New York State’s Old Croton Aqueduct, which begins here. In winter, the park is a favorite spot for cross-country skiing and sledding. Westchester County Parks operates many other sites and facilities throughout the area.

According to the DEC website: "Because Crown Point Public Campground rests over battlefields and fort locations dating back to 1775, remnants of structures and sites remain for visitors to view. The lighthouse, rebuilt in 1911-1912 and positioned on the campground shore overlooks the 281,600 acre Lake Champlain. The campground is located on the lower southwestern shore of Lake Champlain, north of the village of Crown Point. Positioned so that it is majestically overlooking Lake Champlain and neighboring Vermont, the Crown Point bridge looms on the northern most shore of this campground and is one of the few bridges connecting New York State and Vermont. Sites are capable of holding any size RV and are blanketed with grass all summer long. There is one on site lean-to. The entire Crown Point Reservation, including all 49 acres of the campground, are listed in the National Register of Historic Places and have been designated by the United States Secretary of the Interior as a National Historic Landmark."

A short ATV trail open to individuals with CP-3 permits provides access to Crystal Creek from the general parking area. An accessible fishing pier is located on the edge of the creek, where anglers can fish for wild brook trout.

The staff is very welcoming and willing to help students and visitors. The gym does not provide adaptive equipment, but the staff is more than willing to help individuals that may need assistance. The school is always willing to make accommodations when needed and requested.

The garden is open daily from 9:00 a.m. until sunset during the summer, free of charge. Look for the brochures located in boxes by each garden within the Botanic Garden. The brochure describes the plants in that garden and gives additional information about the garden.

According to the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation Website, "Darien Lakes State Park's terrain is hilly with woodlands, ravines, streams and 12-acre Harlow Lake. The park has a total of 154 campsites, 141 with electricity and 13 primitive sites without. Also available are heated comfort stations and showers, a beach, playgrounds, fishing, hiking and horseback riding trails, picnic areas and a rustic bridge over the lake channel to Picnic Island. In winter, multiple-use trails are open for hiking, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. Darien also has two picnic shelters available for a fee by reservation only."
